Sangam
Sanstha Sankhu (SSS) is a nonprofit making,
nonpolitical, nonreligious and development oriented grass root level entity
established in the year 1983 with joint hand effort of seven enthusiasm
youth/women from different parts of the district West of Sikkim with their
different and excellent key developmental profiles. It was existence one decade
in the field of development towards community empowerment all the way through
participatory approach, but in the year 1993, the members of the organization
realized to get the platform Govt. recognized and accordingly action
fortunately made them to avail the entity under Societies Registration Act.
1860 in the year 1994.
Partnerships
and collaboration are important strategies for development, and will become
even more important in the era of open economy was something that the founders
visualized and wanted to set up mechanisms to be prepared for the change. SSS addresses the need of NGOs/Voluntary Organizations to access
unaffordable but much required skills and professional talent, as well as the
aspiration of a section of people who believe in social change and want to
contribute their time, skills and talent for the benefit of the community, but
are uncertain about the approach and methods to be adopted. Here we act as an
interface between our partners and the aspiring individual to come together on
issues which engage them to work towards a common cause. We have patients to endure courage to
work with the seemingly impossible task of mitigating suffering of the
disadvantage, weaker section and the poor. Together with the networks and
voluntary organizations in the states, SSS
has initiated discussions on issues such as self-regulation and organizational
discipline, it has also brought in a greater amount
of rigor in its work with the government on important issues that affect
partnerships. We hope to strengthen these efforts and invite the government,
donor agencies and other concern development organizations to take advantage of
our understanding and
experience in making the partnership process more effective and meaningful and
directly beneficial to the poor for whom we are working.
With
several up & downs experiences have strengthened and given it the
confidence and the staying power. It has demonstrated its utility and proven
its relevance in the development environment. SSS is confident that the team
will be able to respond effectively to demands and set the tone for
partnerships ahead properly. This
significant framework that allows interaction and exchange of expertise, we
hope to keep up communication and networks with our current and potential
partners in order to realize all the set goals. We ultimately aim at achieving
reform and modernization through mobilizing all capacities, as well as
establishing economic reform that provides us with a true role in the national
economic arena. Social theory considers development to be the goal
of social, cultural and political action, where the development process is one
of inters linkage and conditionality. In fact, economic development cannot be
achieved without political, scientific and educational development. Development
is not realized through mere decision-making, nor can it be accomplished
without considering its environment. Since development is interactive,
educational and dynamic, it requires legal frameworks, institutions and
individuals that are aware of its significance.
SSS aims
to become a platform to streamline the tradition & local resource base
activities in the region for sustainable economy & employment, through the
approach of empowering community in a professional way to have better control
of their lives and resources as well as enable them to establish themselves
both on the personal and professional fronts bringing about positive and
visible changes in their society. The various activities as laid down has
encouraged us to carry on the good work and endeavour to climb newer heights to
reach the pinnacle of efficiency and growth both quantitatively and
qualitatively. We are happy to note the smile on the face of the villagers that
we have helped in due course of our work.
Management,
SSS
